Our aim is to deliver a course that will be suitable for students of all levels

 

Description:

  • English language: vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening and writing competencies

  • English literature and history.

  • Face-to-face communication.

  • Practical task – participants will make a written and oral presentation at the end of the week where they will show what they have learnt so far.

  • At the end of each day, participants will be given a short activity to check their comprehension of what was taught that day.

  • Entry test – multiple choice test to assess what level the participants are at before the start of the course

  • End of course test – multiple choice test to see what level students are at by the end of the course.

 

Aims and objectives:

  • Participants will be able to understand the English language structures, communicate and write short texts and essays.

  • Participants will learn about British culture, history and customs through the course book and will be able to read and talk about it by the end of the course.

  • Participants will be able to answer complex personal questions and talk about themselves as well as ask complex questions to others.

  • Participants will communicate with each other in English and develop more complex communication skills by using vocabulary and grammar structures taught in class.

  • Participants will learn the grammar structures as they are explained in the course book and will learn about the present, past and future tenses of the English language. Participants will read texts in English to develop their reading and pronunciation skills.

  • Participants will have many listening comprehension tasks where they will hear native speakers which will help them develop comprehension skills as well as pronunciation.

 

Learning outcomes:

Class Times

Day 1: Arrival, introduction of the course and the location, introduction of the participants Registration during the day 14.30 – 15.00: Familiarisation with the site, health and safety briefing 15.00 – 17.30: Introduction of the course and trainer, introduction of the participants – 5 minutes for each participant to introduce themselves and their institution and the objectives they wish to achieve by completing the course 18.00 – 19.30: Informal get-together with the course participants over dinner.
Day 2: Speaking Participants will communicate with each other in English and develop communication skills by using vocabulary and grammar structures taught in class
Day 3: Grammar Participants will learn the grammar structures as they are explained in the course book and will learn about the present, past and future tenses of the English language
Day 4: Reading Participants will read texts in English to develop their reading and pronunciation skills
Day 5: Listening Participants will have many listening comprehension tasks where they will hear native speakers which will help them develop comprehension skills as well as pronunciation
Day 6: Writing Participants will write about themselves, every day adding a bit more as they progress
Day 7: End of the course – cultural programme 8.30 – 10.00: What did I learn this week? Preparing for dissemination – 5 minute presentation from each participant 10.00-10.15- Break 10.15-11.00: Evaluation and feedback of the course Certificates, attendance certificates Certificate issue – photography 11.30-16.00: Cultural programme – boat trip
